Weird...yet Nice:)

'Kadhal ennum saabam thandha devadhaye, kaannalaamo raagam nindru povadhaye...' This song 'Oru mani adithal' has followed me for years or rather the other way. I can't point out what I like about this song... the lyrics or the fact that it was a rarity to hear this number. I still remember once when returning from collg, this song was played in some shop in loudspeaker and I was lingering before the shop wanting to listen to it fully and another day got to enjoy the full number in FM played in the auto I was travelling. There was this another song, 'goat song' as I used to call it. Rarely in FM or in some music channel I get to hear it. I never knew which film or who was the composer even. But it always sounded catchy. I started googling with just some middle lines in the search tab since I wasn't sure of the starting word even. Found it was 'Oyilaa Padum paatila' from SeevalpperiPandi. It was an Illayaraja song. Happy to have both the songs in my system now:-) Not just that, years back, guess during school days I remember watching a Karthik-Gowthami-Suhasini movie. It was a quite a good flick. And there was this one song picturing between Karthik and a little girl, a dad-daughter one which was like really touching. An unwitting subject to search on. But sometimes it's like that... You will remember a pani puri or an icecream shop that's quite far away from your place and you would have eaten there just once... But you would do just about anything to get there. Ever been in thos shoes? Now this was a search for a video song... Knowing nothing but the actors it was hard to look for. I had to type all that I knew about the movie, wishing atleast some of the keywords in the search tab would lead me to relevant pages. Gowthami's wikipedia and from there went on to find the movie where she costarred with Karthik and then from the movie name to the song. Atlast I was glad to find someone had uploaded the video in youtube. Dat was quite a rare number sung by Mano composed by Illayaraja sir again. 'Naan vaazndhadhu konjam andha vaasathil vandhudhitthu uyiril kalandhaai enn uyire... ' It was 'Endhan vaazhkayin artham solla' song from Chinna Kannama. The little gal was Baby Shaamili. I just didn't remember that while searching. It had this heart-warming lyrics. Stupid na but I was like so happy. Pleasure of finding something long lost. Must be that.

Lyrics of Endhan from Chinna Kannama

Endhan vaazhkayin artham solla
Pookalin vannam kondu pirandha
magaley enn magaley
Naan vaazndhadhu konjam andha
vaasathil vandhudhitthu uyiril
kalandhaai enn uyire
unn poovizhi kurunagai
Adhi aayiram kavidhaye

Endhan...

Vaanam thalatta megam neeratta
valarum velli nilave
Vaazhvil nee kaanum sugangal nooraaga
vendum thanga chilaye
Thaayin madi serum kandru pola
Naalum valarvaai en maarbiley
Sei unn mugam paarka thunbam theerum
kaalam kaniyaagum deviye
siru kili pol pesum peachil
enai marandhean naan amma

Endhan...

Kanavil ninaivaaga ninaivil kanavaaga
kalandhal kaadhal devi
uravin palanaaga kadalin amudhaga
pirandhai neeyum kaniye
kaana kidaikaadha pillai varame
kannil jolikindra vairame
kodi koduthalum unnai pola
selvam kidaikadhu vaazvile
pulli maaney thoongum mayile
ennai marandhean naan amma

Endhan ...

Thanks to Google!:)

Pgs From My Diary - Dated June 20th ' 08

It's 5 mins past 11. ' Oru aayiram paarvayile, un paarvayai naan ariven...' Hello fm. Past few days I have resumed listening to the radio between 10-1, esp Radio Mirchi; Mokkai Nights & Kadhala Kadhala. I was wondering What is it like to become an RJ esp during night time. Who would listen to you...ppl having night shifts, car/taxi/lorry drivers, the road corner pani puri shops, owls & yaa ppl like me who have slept most of the day time and now the eyelids are tired of resting anymore! Oh ya I remember during the reconstruction of my neighbour's house, the workers after a tired day would switch on the radio. It appeared to me like they forget their physical pain and have a peaceful sleep. Their meaning of music is different. Thanks to radio sets which come at affordable prices. ' Neer kulle muzhiginaalum needhi sagadha, nenju kule vaazhum engal jodi saagadha...' Kalai maatum kandaal kaduvul theriyadha from Dasavatharam. Rangarajan Nambi role, the first half an hour is a must watch. Kamal's acting, cinematography, art direction, song every piece of that first few mins in the movie is damn good.

In Kadhala Kadhala, Dr. Love has taken the topic of self love today...the last 2 days the topics were interesting ,office love, celebrity crushes! Today it's boring. ' Loving yourself' , I recall Suresh Punjabi's session in 3rd year. It was a soft skills training pgm for 2 days in collg to equip us for placement at the end of the year. At the close of the first day training, Suresh sir had asked us to write a Love letter to ourselves! To show how important self love is. Dat was the first and last love letter I have written. It's safe in my desk along with another precious letter given by Akhi on Friendship day 12th std. 'un punnagai naan semikindra selvam adi, nee illai endrral naanum inge ezhai adi...' kannukule unnai veithein. I like the lyrics and the innocence PrabhuDeva displays in the song. I prefer listening to the radio n switching channels to my saved Fav playlists in my comp. Vow! Another fav number from one of the worst movies I have seen ever. The song ' Ven megam pen agaa uruvaanadho...' music is by Yuvan from yaaradi nee mohini...' kanmudi orr orum naan saygirein, kanneril anandham naan kaangirein...' Hariharn is such a consummate singer, so much feel in the song...

Uma has said she would come home tomorrow, we girls are so much bored...the hols seem never-ending with no idea of when the company would call...I turn back few pgs , dated 1/6/08, I had prepared a check list of things I should do this summer...Haha..." I have 100% belief that I would do something tomorrow which I had totally ignored today". Am I stupid or optimistic..? I don't know but this much I am sure I love myself a lot. Eppayadhum urupuduvein..:) This belief keeps me going. I have been picking up some random blogs and reading these days. One was that of a gal who is so good in writing, her inditing style is so unique. But I haven't understood why does she take the nay side of things always. She seems to hate herself. From her old posts I could key out there was some love failure. She finds her blog to be her only solace, so I didn't want to comment anything. Really wish she finds love again in life. Ha, Oh ho sanam...Oh Ho, it's Dasa again. It's the Pop singer Kamal! The pairing between Kamal and Jaypradha was good, it would remind anyone of their Salangai Oli...Naadha Vinodhangal. It's 12.20...I am reminded of a friend who is kinda rough these days. I wish to give her a piece of my mind, but I feel she won't take it in the right sense and face-offs don't interest me. ' uravin perumai pirivil kandu, uyirin paadhi kuraindhein...' Azhage sugama un kobangal sugama. The violin piece is amazing. Divi and me had decided to learn guitar this hols, dunno whn..?

Dr. Love is telling something sensible finally. ' Do things that you love, for eg dressing up well & when ppl pass some good comments, you will feel good about yourself' dats quite true:-) Another beautiful thing to do is to openly tell ppl ' They look good/ beautiful/ handsome today ' you don't know, you might be unknowingly making someones day. Hello fm... 'Nilave ennidaam neringadhe, nee ninaikum edathil naan ilay...'dats a beautiful song. Old songs...day before I had chanced upon a tamil song review site. There was this post on " Polluted songs"...bloggers who are lyrics enthusiasts were ripping apart songs, entries of adulterated songs! The main target of one guy was Kannadasan, he was listing double meaning songs of the legend. Well, he got fitting replys from fellow bloggers. I was taken back when he sort of declared one of my fav songs to have vulgar lyrics. ' Senthazham poovil vanthadaum thendral...' from mullum malarum. The beauty of nature and subtle assumptions of nature as woman. I have loved the song so much. Another blogger commented ' Palam sillar ulam enna yen padaithaan andavan from the same song, must be Kannadasan knew there would be ppl like you who see everything in double meaning'...hehehe...I was so happy! Dr. Love signs off wishing the listeners a great weekend. The song is 'Alankuil, koovum reyil yavum isai agum ada kanna...'...Harini's classical touch. I remember Kirthi, in school days we used to sing together Harin's 'Manam Virumbuthe'... Kirthi knows each line by heart. The time is 1'o clock...Ha, his pic is the screensaver in my mob. My frnds call me crazy, but I don't bother...I still get glued to the chair when I see Vijay on screen nevertheless I have got tired of his humdrum roles in the past many flicks...Hmm...I have really liked this idea of writing my dairy listening to radio! Gudnite.

P.S. Net connection isn't stable in the night hours coz of low voltage otherwise I could have made a direct entry into the blog.

Acad Life Ends

Hmm...with yesterday's final sem paper; High Speed Networks, my Academic life came to an end. Ramya B.E...yipeeee. I am a combined (though not well defined...LOL) product of St.Thomas(till 1st std), Bosco Academy(2nd to 5th), St.Marys(6-12th) n R.M.K Engg(B.E, Compsci). Started learning A,B,C,D... n finally got only 2 alphabets. So bad...if I study 2 more years I will get an M.B.A. School days were the best, there was dedication. I am happy I finished college, there is no space for nostalgia. I feel matured, I no longer miss people or places. I ain't the same gal who left school with fake promises of keeping in touch with friends. My good old buddies say I have never changed, other than for that pimples and acnes...haha...changes are inevitable and I also believe they aren't explicit. It happens within, we change a lot with time. Lots of lessons learnt which weren't either in school or college syllabus. My life is gonna be 'simply great'. I am damn sure about that. Excuses wont have place in the journey. There is lots to be done, this time under my discretion and likes. Dunno, for the first time in life I feel so good about myself. What a relief!!!

A Fanatic's Minutes Of Paradise

It was to celebrate Times Of India launch of it's Chennai Edition and who else could have made the event big than the 'Mozart Of Madras', A.R.Rahman. The circulation of Times Of India had started on 14th April and there was a free pass for the 'A.R.Rahman Changing Notes Concert-20th April' given for each TOI paper you buy that day. The free passes were meant to be a part of the standing gallery. The concert was held on St. George's Stadium, Poonamale yesterday, the 20th. Me and four of my friends reached the place by 6 pm. The stadium was right opposite to Pachayappa's college and I came to know there was a traffic block right from 5, nearly 40,000 people were present. We gotta stand in one corner of the standing gallery, from where the performing podium was just about visible. One of my friends was gasping and the other saying there might be a stampede. For me it was ' ANYTHING FOR THE MAN'. Someone who had enchanted all of us right from his Roja to his Jodhaa Akhbar. My ardor for ARR music came quite late, approx 4 yrs back when I joined college. Bored and bugged with the mammoth sized Engg books, I started engaging myself with music. The kick off was with R.D.Burman and slowly I moved on to collect almost all filmy songs, old and new; tamil and hindi. My weekends helped me make my computer a real juke box. It was then I began listening to ARR more, I was amazed to see the change he had made in MUSIC, pure innovation, and excellent modulation. The song Chinna Chinna Aasai(Dil Hain Chota Sa) from Roja, a master's first piece and very much a masterpiece. The mix in instruments, first interlude would be guitar whereas the second one would be violin, sheer transition skills. The mix in the flute and guitar, the folk sounds and the use of natural sounds, chime instrument for the bell sound, it was celestial. So many instruments in one song, all that to get that village feel. From then on I have garnered almost all his songs till date. Khamosh raath's silence to the Azzem-O-Shaan Shehensha's beats. It was a wish to see him perform live or to see atleast one of his recording sessions. Standing in a crowd of thousands, for the first time I didn't mind the B.O, the dust. One of my friends frowned at me and I smiled back. You see it was bliss for me. But yaa I wished there could have been an IPL match in Chennai yesterday. Atleast some percentage of the crowd in St. George's Ground would have come down. It was past 6.30, repeated display of the promo of TOI launch flashed on LCD projectors. I asked my friend impatiently, ' Where is my guy??' She was like ' Really Ramya who is he..?' I said who else... my Rahman, they all gave me a dirty look.

By 7pm striking varied colored lights flashed on the stage and there was this roaring by the crowd signaling the arrival of the Maestro. Within few minutes he took stage, dressed in white and black. Ya, I could see him though from far. Making my day and that of other Rahmaniacs. ' Jaage hain dher thak hamein kuch dher sone dho thodi se raat aur hai subah tho hone dho, aadhe adhure khwaab jo pure na ho sake, ek bhaar phir se neend meinwoh khwaab bhone dho... ' he got going with these beautiful verses by Gulzar from Guru. The crowd was singing along. Then came the energy-packed ' Ella Pugazhum Oruvan Oruvanake' and the galore of us joining him in the chorus 'Munnal Munnal vaada'. Next came Shankar with ' Endrendum Punnagai'. Everyone, Shankar, Hariharan, Karthik, Naresh Iyer, Mohammed Aslam, Sivamani, Blaaze, Javed Ali, Karthik, Tanvi, Madhushree, Chinmayi, Nithyashree, Sadhna Sargam and few more singers( I couldn't recognize few faces). I wished Shreya Ghoshal was there. The other songs that made the crowd wind off were Varaha nadhikkarai oram, Vaji vaji, Barso re, Girlfriend, Rubaroo, Enn Solla Pogiraai, Kehne Kho Jashn-E-Bahara hain, Kannodu Kaanbadhellam( Nithyashree started on a classical note,it was my favorite of the few I heard) NewYork Nagaram, Munbe Vaa. By 8.30 we had to make a move, having promised our parents to get home by 9. I missed many numbers, esp Khwaja mere Khwaja, In Lamhon Ke Dhaaman, DilSe, Chayya Chayya, Tere Bina. Heard from friends the coda was simply great. I reached Perambur with my friends in auto and from there in my scooty back home. The concert was exceptional and my evening very special. A day I would remember for years to come. Thanks to TOI.

Syllabus book, Slam Book and Scribble Pad

A final project review tomorrow and in the month end three final sem papers, everything gets over by May 8th. College life at it's fag end. I was looking at my syllabus book. When you look at slam book you remember your friends. But when you look at your syllabus book, you remember your teachers and yaa few papers which were nightmares(thr was a time in school when I felt bad scoring in 80's, but now 50 is the target, 36 external and 14 internal:) Unlike in school where I remember almost all my teachers, college the count is only about 2 or 3. Latha mam she handled 3 subjects for us, PCD, OOAD and HSN. ' Ramya na chetta, chetta na ramya...' I gotta hear these lines almost every day. I have tried to look innocent and explain her many times, yours is the only class I listen to. Guess what she told, when I said that, ' Not just my class, I found you talking incessantly in Data Warehousing class too, Why don't you think about the teacher who is taking class?' I wished I could say, Oh Mam when I am sleeping and falling on the bench, how could I think about you? Mam does her homework perfectly, but she expects the same from us:) Never mind, she is such a sweetheart, she is the first person who will come to help voluntarily. Such a soft and soothing voice she has got. Be it advising or scolding, I don't hear the words, it's jut the BGM:):) Then yaa Vinodh sir, he is our hero. During practical exams if he spots us sad and scratching our head, he will come either correct the mistake in the program or put Output Verified...hehehe. My practical papers wouldn't have been that easy without him. I haven't got the autograph and words of wisdom from my teachers. Will take my autograph book to collg tomorrow. I took my slam book next, made out that I wouldn't miss many. Me, Akhi, Divi and Uma, I haven't got that close to anybody else. Since Divi and Akhi will be along in TCS too( atleast during the training), Uma must be someone I will miss as she is into Infy. Uma is a bit techie and a big foodie:) We have asked her mom to get her married to some hotel owner. I needn't spend much when she is along, the smell of pizzas, cakes and her scooty will automatically stop. I was turning pgs in my slam book....Who else...? Siva, Sunny two good friends I made in college. Promises of staying connected through the phone and net. Guess I won't miss them much. Then I took my scribble pad, it's the book that has saved me many times. Keep scraping something and teachers would think you are writing notes. It has a big collection of quotes, film dialogs, middle lines of songs, some compeering stuff etc. When class really gets boring, many of us start writing our own kavidhais. Divi writes really good ones. I found few lines that I had written. Some scrap nothing upto the mark.

This was during an AI hour:

' Kadhalargaluku kann pesum varthaigal purigiridhaam,
Aanal ennamo Manavargaluku Aasiriyargalin vaai pesum
varthaigal purivadhe illay!!!! '

This one during Cryptography hour:

'Yein boardil ulavay edhuvum vilangave ilay,
Naduthuvadha cryptology enbadhanala..??'

And yaa there was one of this favorite quote of Robert Frost

'Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence'.

:) :) :)

Yaaradi Nee Mohini ~~~ Mohini pisasu!!!

It was perdition, but why..? Coz I lied to my Mom that I will be moving out to work with my friends on our Project Report. Since theaters were closed on 4th due to interstate chaos, we had decided to watch the movie 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini' yesterday. Within half an hour we understood we weren't in a theatre, it was hell and I was choking. The hero(Dhanush) fails to make it into any interviews. Scoldings from father Raghuvaran(he passed away few weeks back, I really wished this great baddie and character actor on the big screen could have ended up with some character in a worth-mentioning flick). Now hero meets heroine(Nayanthara), falls in love(I wasn't irritated coz it was very much obvious...) Our lead lady is a project manager in a software firm. Our hero applies and also gets through, in the GD round namba hero speaks in Tamil(!). I didn't know in a day's time a project can be done. Hmm...our hero does that too for our heroine. They move to Australia for a project(enna koduma pa idhu...) They do almost everything other than project work. At last the usual blockbuster scene of most of the romantic flicks came, ' Hero proposes, heroine disposes'. What made me gasp, was the reason she said, ' Our family is very conservative, what you are seeing now is not the real me and now get out of my life as I am already engaged'. The most stupid thing in the movie was to kill Raghuvaran(till that time I was watching the movie only for him). He dies of heart attack seeing his son sad about his lost love. After this, the hero's friend played by Karthik( Suchitra's hubby...yet another bad characterization) takes our dismayed hero to his native place 'a village'. To make things worser, Karthik is engaged to our heroine (hehe...orre bulb namba heroku) Now it's every person's guess, the rest of the story, how the hero captures the heart of the heroine and her family members. I don't know how to pen about this movie anymore, it isn't easy to scrap about crap . I tried getting out of the theatre in the middle, but I had parked my scooty in the last row, the man in the parking area told me that I will have to wait until the movie gets over and others take their vehicle. Scorching sun outside, choking film inside. I went inside to watch the rest of the drama. Dhanush and Nayanthara hugging tight and poor Karthik watching over in a fix. I said to Akhi, 'The charring sun was ton times better di'. I wont tell anyone the climax, it's very very special:D. ' Naam petra thunbam vayakamum perave'. What I couldn't comprehend was 'what was that special thing in the script that made the actors sign for it?' Usually the director will have a concept in mind and buld the story on that. In this movie there was neither concept nor story only madness. In Rajeev Masand's words, the movie is dump, gooselike, disgusting and lacks even a bit of life. A big thumbs down to the director for making the viewers feel sick:(:(

To My Friend

Down but not out... Sometimes in life it's important to be like Dravid 65 out of 200balls, to stay on the crease even if you are not performing. What is important in the long run is holding together and retaining your shape. You guys must be wondering what is she about to say..? One can turn philosophical when they are sad or when they have had a breakthrough. My situation is a kind of both. You should never become emotional when the outcome from an incident is a phenomenal realization. My best friend Akhi used to tell me many times, 'In this world you can't afford to make everybody happy everytime'. Ya my dearest Akhi, she learns from others mistakes. But some like me are Patta Dhaan Thirunduvein type (learn from your own mistakes). But let me tell you there are still others in the world, 'Pattutum thirandhadha type'(they keep committing mistakes). For those remember this life of yours isn't meant for that, neither is this world a place for that. You can't expect solace each time, the soon you learn the better. My friend asked me ' I just asked you to support me, to console me when I was sad'. For the first time in my life I replied ' No friend, you can't expect me to console and be along with you every time'. There ended our friendship. I had too say that coz misunderstandings and silly fights were increasing each day between us. What I said might be wrong, but sometimes when expectations start increasing you gotta choose to be a bit harsh. Expectations even if it is word of comfort can cost you high sometimes. Coz in this world where tomorrow is very much unkown, how can you afford to promise, how can you give dreams of hope to someone...? These words DREAMS, HOPE, EXPECTATIONS, INSPIRATION are those that one should search in oneself and not in others. If you lookup inside yourself, you will surely find millions of answers. THE REAL HELP COMES FROM INSIDE YOU. Not told by me, it is the words from yesterday's, today's and beyond doubt from even tomorrow's achievers. When you look back at your life, you will realize the same. I know my friend is going to soar heights. Will understand then, what I told wasn't the wrong thing to say at that time.

I Missed Him

Today in our college, we were distributed our offer letters. Students placed in the year 2007-2008 around 500 odd from both RMK n RMD Engg Collg were given their call letters. TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HP, Caritor, Tata Elxi, Patni and many others. We were in our audi block. Away from friends as we were given numbers according to the companies placed. And I gotta sit for the first time in the first row. The probs sitting in the first row is you gotta stay glued to the podium, listen or atleast act like listening to all the stalwarts speaking. Two delegates, one from Oracle and the other from TCS were the chief guests. One man started off ' This is just the beginning... You haven't proved anything big....the IT world is competitive....in corporate only the fittest survive...blah...blah...' I seriously don't understand what is the problem with these people, they very well know we are not in a mood to listen. Then came the other man, ' I know todays youngsters don't like advice' I thought he will end it there, but hell he went on speaking for 45 mins...extreme mokkai. One thing that I remember from his speech, it seems he had done his Phd on ' Employee attrition in IT industries' being a Mechanical Engineer. I seriously had no idea what had Mech to do with IT, didn't he find any other area of interest in his discipline to work on. N yaa the words repeated by both the chief guests ' Innovation, out of the box thinking'. I really wanted to stand up and tell, first you say something originative then we will think of out of the box. But then came some precious moments, offering the call letter. That's the only thing I got by being in the campus(I wont use the word studying) for 4 yrs. These 4 yrs have been a kind of static period in my life. I would never miss my college life but for this offer letter. Yes it meant a lot to me, my first step towards being independent. Within few months I would sign my first cheque, my first company TCS. Being a bit futuristic and with lots of inbuilt confidence, I could ideate of going heights. Thanks to my college and lots of thanks to Mom(I was sick during my placement time June last year, without her it would have been difficult). Then my mind wandered to students who are passing out this yr along with me from my own college and from some other collgs but haven't got placed yet. In some colleges there are no campus placement facilities. I know quite a few deserving candidates who are working in BPO's possessing good technical skills. Then I remembered one of my dear friends who wasn't present in the crowd. We are friends right from the starting of our college life. Coming from a village side and lacking the fluency in English, he was rejected in many HR rounds. He has not made it yet in placements on and off campus. I wonder sometimes , Are IT companies looking for programmers or people with communication skill?? What has speaking good English to do with writing code, isn't it more than enough to know languages C and Java better than English..? When I called up today evening, before I could make any consolatory statement and while I was searching for words, he said ' Hey I m pretty much fine, right now doing courses in Java and Oracle and hey thanks for all that you were trying to tell all this time'. He was fighting back all odds. I felt proud having a friend like him. Hey yaar I missed you a lot today.

Women's Day - Like Never B4

This March 8th will be remembered for long time to come. Few weeks back, we received a mail about 'Microsoft placement on March 8th exclusively for women who are currently in their final semester of either CSE/IT discipline'. We would be having our written test on 8th and if short listed we get to face 3 to 4 technical rounds in the consecutive weeks. Now this Microsoft is a biggie and no techie buff would leave this opportunity off hand. That's true, but where the hell do I fall under that 'techie ones'(pursued Engg after finishing my 12th coz there was this stupid assumption of only 2 options available ahead 1. Medicine and 2. Engg. Medicine required huge cutoff and so the obvious choice. All the other courses don't promise you a bright future...is that so?Doesn't this country need more artists, good politicians, entrepreneurs and the like. For that before you finish your school, you should be well aware of your ambition, your dream. Parents and teachers drive the children making them believe that there are only 2 elite jobs, either become a doctor or an engineer and there is this tiring job of digesting Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths text books. Who digests them better will top. From this year on, there is no 'Entrance Exam' too, making my before statement much more strong.) K, let me get back to Microsoft. Along with my friends I too registered( now don't ask me why..) Now comes preparation, is this one week enough to learn all those stuff that I didn't give a damn the last 4 yrs. This is how one of my friends consoled me when I told him 'I am a stupid naa, I am saying NO without giving it a try'. The test was scheduled at Adyar in St. Michaels Academy. The landmark that came to my mind in Adyar was one of India's greatest Cancer Institute which is well known for the free treatment it provides to the poor people across the country. And yaa ofcourse the lady behind, Padma Shri Dr. V.Shantha, chairperson of the institute. She was honoured with the The Ramon Magsaysay Award(also known as Asia's Nobel Prize) in the year 2005. Fifty years of remarkable service, there was this quote of her's that I remember noting down, " The journey has been long. I don't see an end to it, simply because our work is never ending. What we have done is very little. There is much more to do. The journey has been arduous, with bricks and stones and occasional flowers strewn in between, but we continue…" I remembered Sony Mammu(social activist, my friend's uncle and one of the person I can always look up to). He once told me 'Service is an attitude, even a smile can be a service' . Had some unneeded money in my account, thought of paying a visit to the Institute. Called up to the Insti to get permission for visiting. There was this visiting hours and unfortunately I wouldn't be able to make it within the visiting time coz our MS test was slated for about 4 hrs including the registration and ppt. Microsoft had resolved to conduct a recruitment every Women's day. For many it was a dream come true, coz MS doesn't go for 'on campus' placement to many affiliated colleges other than a mighty few. But little did I know that this wasn't a lucky dip. There came 2 delegates from MS to showcase a Ppt about the giant company and today's selection test( My friend was quite intimidated seeing the guys in Denim blue shirt(guess MS uniform), to me the Ppt was a clean chit out of the game esp when one of them replied that ' We had of late selected only some 5 odd, out of 100 students from IIT ' to the question 'How many students are you looking forward to select'. And yaa he also made it clear that the training will be only related to MS products coz they select you only after making sure that you are good at C, C++, Java. Alas, at the end of the Ppt ,I was asking myself 'WHY AM I HERE?'. Before I could think about that, I was sitting in the exam hall. Now fortunately or unfortunately it was objective questions(yaa that 1,2,3 u go free or call it Inky Pinky Ponky type) The test was for 1hr 50 mins. For people who are interested in knowing the details of the test, here it is:

1. Analytical reasoning - 30 mins(students good at probability can get through)
2. Data Structures - 10 mins ( even given the options, it was hard to recollect Stacks and Queues which in my 2nd sem I had learnt (did I...?)
3. C and C++ - 40 mins( snippets given, guess the o/p. This was cruel, as most of the ques were pointers(*,**,&...oops)
4. Operating Systems - 15 mins(my 4th sem paper, I scored around 90 in that paper, but how the hell did I forget it all(thrashing, demand paging, page faults) just in a matter of 2 yrs.
5.RDBMS - 15mins(Queries(select, create, I still had only one query in mind, WHY AM I HERE?) and yaa the Normal Forms(1NF, 2NF, 3NF...oh plzz b4 I become ab'Normal', take the ans sheet from me:(

Finally the 110 mins got over. Thankfully there was no negative marks. The results will be mailed in a weeks time. Now the question is ' What to do if by chance I get through this 1st round?' My technical knowledge will be put to test then. Gotta wait n watch. I was happy for some girls in my class who really deserved this offer. Wish they get through. Lesson learnt 'Be happy with your food, if you want delicacies every day then better learn to prepare them first' :) and yaa this quote ' Don't limit God's ability to do by your capacity to receive'. Goodbye MS for now!!!

Bin Tere Kya Hain Jeena~~Without you, What Is Life!!!

Mom's birthday, how could I forget it? Since I was quite successful with my part-time job and that I wouldn't have survived some unfortunate incidents last year without my dear momsy, I already had thought of getting her something special this birthday. But then how did I draw a blank? We repay debts of our friends but many a times forget what we owe to our parents. Ya one can definitely ask, ' They are our parents, they are destined to do all this for us'. And we too later in life are gonna do just the same for our children. I don't forget to wish my friends, many dear ones even at 12 in the night. If I have forgotten my dear friend's birthday, I am sure she will call it a crime. But mom just took it easy. I was feeling so bad thinking about it the entire day. Evening when mom came from office, we had a lovely chat and went to temple on my scooty. I still remember when I was in school, how much I craved to get a two-wheeler. I used to tell myself when I start earning I would never opt for a car, will go for a scooty and take mom for a ride. But before I could graduate, mom bought me one. I feel so happy inside, when she sits back, her hands on my shoulders ( remember the Complan ad) Now I don't envy my brother, coz I can drop mom on my own:) I was so so happy, that I started playing all those amma songs. 'Amma endru azhaikadha uyir illaye', 'Naan aga naan ilay thaaye nal vazhvu thandaye neeye', 'Kalayil dhinamam kann vizhithal naan kai thozhum devadhai amma' in loops. My mom was like 'Are u nuts???' :) Now as I write this, I can feel the emotions bashing inside my heart just like the strong waves on the seashore. After all for how many more years will I be able to celebrate this day with her, I don't know but yaa surely these invaluable moments will be cherished as beautiful memories all my life.

Kadhalika Neramillai~~~My CT

'Valibathil Kadhalika, Jadhakathil Vazhiyum Illai', one of my all time favorite song from the blockbuster movie ' Kadhalikka Neramillai' of 1964 starring Muthuraman, Kanchana , music by the amazing duo 'Viswanathan-Ramamurthy' and songs brilliantly written by 'Kannadasan'. A Star Vijay TV serial is being screened under the same name . Of late what is being played in loops in my playlist is ' Ennai Thedi Kadhal Endra Vaarthai Anupu', the title track of the serial. I hate watching soaps, but this song was refreshing. Don't talk about the story of the serial, first few episodes I managed sitting and then lost every bit of my patience. The half an hour is meant to take a trip to the vantage locations of Singapore(heard the shooting is shifted to Chennai now) and then the silly fights between the lead pairs Shakthi(Prajin) & Divya(Chandra Lakshmanan). Prajin was a hot favorite of Sun Music TV viewers. Btw I heard Prajin has got married to Sandra(who was a VJ in Kiran Music Channel). The love marriage wasn't publicized coz they felt it would affect the TRP of the serial:)( Oh, I m sorry if I had broken the hearts of any die-hard female Prajin fans)

Now let me come to the point. I am doing service currently, Isn't setting caller tunes, a service?? It was my foolishness actually. My best friend loves the title track of this serial . It was my attempt to make her happy. But never knew it would cost me some 60 Rs. It is like this, 30Rs for setting CT, 15 Rs for song selection and couple of SMS of 3 Rs. Soon I will run out of balance:( You see my friends are soooooo loving, they send me an SMS ' I will call you now, don't bother to lift the call ' , yesterday my cell went on ringing for 1 hour continuously. Friends happy, me too happy. Hope I don't forget to cancel the service after a month time.

This song is composed by 'Vijay Antony' and I heard it is sung by his wife. The lyrics are simple and beautiful. The beats are too good. It makes a lovely song.

Lyrics:

Ennai thedi Kadhal endra vaarthai anuppu
Unnai thedi vaazhvil motha arthum tharuven
Sellarikkum thanimayil sethuvidum mun seithi anuppu…
Ennidathil theki vaitha kadhal muludhum
Unnidathil kondu vara theriyavillai
Kadhal athai sollukindra vazhi therinthal
solli annuppu..

Pookal uthirum saalai valiye pesi selgiren
Marangal kuda nadapathu pole ninaithu kolgiren
Kaditham ondril kappal seithu mazhayil vidugiren
Kanavil mattum kadhal seithu iravai kolgiren

Yaaro unn kadhalil valvathu yaaro
Unn kanavinil niraivathu yaaro
En salanangal theerthida vaarayo
Eno en iravugul nelvathu eno
Oru pagal ena suduvathu eno
En thanimayin avasthaigal theeratho
Kadhal thara nenjam kaathu irukku
Kaadhalikka angu neram illaya
Kilayai pol en ithayam thavari viluthe
Ennai thedi kadhal endra varthai anuppu
Unnai thedi vaazhvil motha artham tharuven
Sellarikkum thanimayil sethuvidum mun seithi anupu...
